Design · Primary reason

### A system that fits your roof

Victorian terraces, older roof coverings, chimneys, and the slopes around Hastings can produce split roof faces and uneven shading. We survey those constraints and model the usable layout before recommending a panel count.

### An install you can trust

Access and scaffolding are assessed early, especially around the Old Town, Bohemia, and St Leonards. Coastal exposure, cable routes, and the visual effect in conservation areas are considered as part of the same design rather than after the quote.

### Aftercare & monitoring

We handle the relevant DNO process, MCS documentation, monitoring setup, and handover. Battery storage is considered against your actual usage, and our Eastbourne office remains close enough to provide practical aftercare across Hastings and St Leonards.

### Solar panel installers in Hastings

For Hastings and St Leonards, local proof matters because roofs can be split by chimneys, dormers, narrow access, or conservation-area visibility. Published projects and verified reviews on this page show work completed in the area without implying a separate Hastings office.

### Coastal installs

On the TN34–TN38 seafront, and on the higher roofs above the Old Town, salt air and wind exposure shape the specification. We choose corrosion-resistant fixings and components for those elevations, route cables around chimneys and split roof faces, and look hard at roof access before quoting, because scaffolding is usually the tightest part of a coastal terrace job.

### What you get53+around Hastings

- Design matched to your usage
- Battery-ready design (optional now or later)
- Scaffolding arranged where needed
- DNO application + MCS certificate
- Monitoring setup + clear handover
- Tidy install and respectful on-site work
- Straightforward aftercare

### Working in Hastings

Planning & permissions

Many domestic rooftop systems can use permitted development rights, but the Old Town and other conservation-sensitive or listed properties need closer checks. We confirm the likely route during survey and can prepare a Hastings Borough Council submission where required.

#### Planning for solar in Hastings

Hastings Borough Council is the local planning authority for Hastings and St Leonards.

The council publishes a solar panel self-certification form so you can work out whether you need permission. It follows Class A, Part 14, Schedule 2 of the General Permitted Development Order: panels must not stick out more than 200 millimetres from the wall or roof slope, must not sit higher than the highest part of the roof apart from the chimney, must be sited to keep their effect on the building and the area as small as possible, and must come off when they are no longer needed. Class A does not apply if the home is listed or a scheduled monument.

The borough has 18 conservation areas, including the Old Town. In a conservation area you cannot put panels on a wall fronting the highway, and for a flat roof array you must first ask the council whether its prior approval is needed for how the panels will look, before work starts. Hastings also has Article 4 directions, including two cliff stability areas around West Hill Road.

We confirm the position at survey and handle the submission.

Storage

## Battery storage in Hastings

A battery stores the power your panels make in the day. You use it in the evening instead of buying from the grid. On the right tariff it can also charge on cheap overnight power. Around Hastings and St Leonards, terraces, chimneys and split roofs often mean a smaller array. So it pays to keep what the roof does make. We have three published projects here, two in Hastings and one in St Leonards. Each has the battery named on its case study. Sam in TN38 told us there were "a couple of initial niggles with the battery storage system" and that they "were soon rectified". That is what aftercare is for. We are local, so we come back.

Every published Hastings case study below was installed with battery storage.

Models installed on those projects: Anker SOLIX X1-B5-H.

Faultless and fantastic journey from start to finish. Lee and all his team were professional, polite and helpful to ensure that our slightly different installation worked from the off. Great communication, great specs and great price. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend Eastbourne Energy.

Google review

Excellent company, great service and communication. Eastbourne Energy did a great job installing a 20-panel 9kW solar system on my old and tricky roof, and an ESS. The job was not a simple one but they persisted and I am very happy with the results. There were a few issues with the weather hence some slight delays, but this was communicated well. A couple of initial niggles with the battery storage system were soon rectified. I would very much recommend this company, they are timely, honest, communicative and did a high-quality job.

We invited Lee to carry out a survey and proposal for supply and fitting of solar panels and battery for our bungalow, we were impressed with his knowledge and answered all questions, explained the payback period of time. He suggested a system for us and dealt with the paperwork and suggested the appropriate tariff for our needs. Lee's installation team were professional and nothing was too much trouble. Left the site clean and tidy. Thanks Eastbourne Energy. Terry and Irene

## Solar & Battery Questions – Hastings

### Quick Answers About Solar Panels & Battery Storage in Hastings

Straight answers to the questions homeowners in Hastings ask us most before they book a survey.

Can you install solar panels on Hastings terraces and split roofs?

Yes. Terraces and split roofs are common in Hastings and St Leonards, so we plan around chimney shading, narrower access, and more complex cable routes. Optimisers and careful layout planning often make a big difference on these roofs.

Do you handle access or council checks for Hastings Old Town homes?

Yes. If your project needs extra coordination for scaffolding, restricted streets, or conservation-area checks, we handle that as part of the planning stage so the installation can move forward cleanly.

Do you install solar panels in St Leonards and West St Leonards?

Yes. We cover Hastings, St Leonards, West St Leonards, Silverhill, Bohemia, Hollington, Ore, and nearby TN34, TN35, TN37, and TN38 postcodes. We plan carefully around roof splits and chimney shading, which are common across the town.

Have you installed solar panels in Hastings?

Yes. The published Hastings case studies on this page include a 20-panel, 9.2 kWp system with battery storage, a 13-panel, 6.18 kWp system with battery storage and a 12-panel, 5.52 kWp system with battery storage — open one in the projects section above to see the system details and the photographs the customer approved. Our project records show 53+ completed installations in and around Hastings. We cover Hastings from our base in Eastbourne, across TN34, TN35, TN37, TN38, including Old Town, St Leonards, West St Leonards.

Do you fit battery storage in Hastings?

Yes — every one of the 3 published Hastings case studies on this page was installed with battery storage. The published systems use Anker SOLIX X1-B5-H. Whether a battery is worth it for you depends on how much of your generation you would otherwise export, so we model that before quoting. Our battery storage service page covers sizing and how storage works alongside solar.

Which council handles planning for solar in Hastings?

Hastings Borough Council is the local planning authority for Hastings. Most domestic rooftop solar is permitted development, so an application is often not needed at all; listed buildings, conservation areas and some flats need extra checks. We confirm which applies during the survey and handle any Hastings Borough Council submission on your behalf.

Do coastal homes in Hastings need anything different for solar panels?

On the TN34–TN38 seafront, and on the higher roofs above the Old Town, salt air and wind exposure shape the specification. We choose corrosion-resistant fixings and components for those elevations, route cables around chimneys and split roof faces, and look hard at roof access before quoting, because scaffolding is usually the tightest part of a coastal terrace job.

How much do solar panels in Hastings cost?

A typical 4kW solar-only install in Hastings costs £6,000–£8,000, and battery storage is from £1,750 for a 5 kWh battery, with larger batteries priced at survey. Final price depends on roof layout, system size, and whether you add a battery. We provide a fixed, itemised quote after a survey so you know exactly what's included.
