Smart load management prevents the charger from tripping your supply during high-demand periods.
Smart Charging App Setup
We connect the charger to your home Wi-Fi and configure the companion app so you can monitor and schedule charging from your phone.
Off-Peak Tariff Configuration
We configure your charger to automatically charge overnight on cheaper off-peak electricity rates.
Solar Divert Setup
For homes with solar panels, we configure the charger to automatically use excess solar generation before drawing from the grid.
Full Commissioning & Test
We run a complete charge cycle to verify the installation before we leave, and confirm all safety certifications.
Post-Installation Support
Our team is available after installation for any questions about your charger, app, or energy setup.
Understanding Your Home EV Charger
A home EV charger is more than a socket on the wall. Here’s what you need to know about the four key aspects of your installation.
Charging Speed
7.4 kW standard for most homes
A 7.4 kW home charger (the standard for single-phase properties) adds around 25–30 miles of range per hour of charging. Most EVs with a 60–80 kWh battery go from near-empty to full overnight. Tethered chargers have the cable permanently attached; untethered units use a portable Type 2 cable. We recommend the right type based on how you use your car.
7.4 kW single phase · 25–30 miles per hour · overnight full charge
Smart Charging
App control and scheduled charging
Modern smart chargers connect to your home Wi-Fi and are controlled via a smartphone app. You can schedule charging to start and stop at specific times, set a target charge level, and monitor your session history. Load management prevents the charger from tripping your supply during peak household demand. Integration with smart tariffs like Octopus Intelligent automatically shifts charging to the cheapest overnight periods.

Solar Divert
Charge with free solar energy
For homes with solar panels, compatible smart chargers can detect when your panels are generating more electricity than your home is using. Rather than exporting that surplus to the grid for a small payment, the charger automatically diverts it to charge your EV for free. This requires a compatible charger and either a CT clamp or integration with your inverter’s energy monitoring. We set this up as part of the installation.
Requires solar panels · CT clamp or inverter integration · Configured on install day
OZEV Approval
What it means for your installation
The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) sets the standards that approved chargers and installers must meet. All chargers we install are OZEV-approved, and we are an authorised installer. This matters for two reasons: it ensures the installation meets UK electrical safety standards, and it confirms eligibility for any government grant schemes available at the time of your installation. We handle all grant paperwork on your behalf.

Which Charger is Right for You?
The best charger depends on how you use your car, your home’s energy setup, and whether you have solar panels. Here are the three most common scenarios.
Standard Smart Charger
- Suits most homes on a single-phase supply
- OZEV-approved unit and installation
- Wi-Fi connected with smartphone app
- Schedule charging to off-peak overnight rates
The right choice for most EV owners without solar panels.
Solar-Integrated Charger
- Automatically charges from excess solar generation
- Switches between solar and grid seamlessly
- Maximises use of free daytime solar energy
- Works with most existing solar installations
Ideal if you already have solar panels or are installing both together.
Solar + Battery + EV Bundle
- Solar panels, battery, and EV charger installed together
- Single integrated system managed from one app
- Battery charges from solar and discharges to home and EV
- Single point of contact for installation and warranty
Maximum self-sufficiency and savings for EV owners.
How We Install Your EV Charger
